Chosen, Called, Empowered
As followers of Jesus Christ, we have a two-thousand year tradition that stands as the bedrock of our faith. Oh, we know that the history of Christianity is full of terrible episodes—times when the church acted contrary to the heart of Jesus Christ. But even in the most corrupt days of the church, there have always been a faithful few—those who stood firmly in the love of Christ.
We can learn so much from those who have gone before us. In fact, the New Testament book of Acts gives us insight as to the manner in which the earliest Christians attempted to live their faith. The book is called “The Acts of the Apostles,” but what it chronicles are the acts of the Holy Spirit through those first believers.
We’re going to spend some time this summer in Acts. We want to take what they learned in the decades following Jesus’ time on earth and see how it applies to our time and place.
