Questions for Reflection
Drift can occur anywhere in life. Our relationships are particularly susceptible. The waves of apathy can cause us to look at the shoreline of our life and wonder, “When did I become so distant from my spouse, kids, friends, those closest to me?” Think of a time when you have experienced this.
In regards to the needs of those around him, Jesus saw, had compassion, and took action. Take a moment and think of those closest to you. Where do you need to cultivate the practice of seeing? Where do you need to cultivate the practice of compassion? Where do you need to cultivate the practice of taking action?
We are ever too far down the shoreline. When we (by God’s grace and power) get out of the waves of apathy, with intentionality and effort, we eventually make it back to where we belong; back to where we really want to be. Do you believe this is possible for you, and the people in your life? Talk to God about your situation. Remind yourself that with him ALL things are possible.
Key Verse(s)
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
