  • The DREAM is free. The HUSTLE is sold separately.

02.11.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand As Yourself - Hustle Questions for Reflection What are some ways in which you have bought into hustle culture? What has been neglected as a result? Things like rest, generosity, celebration, thanksgiving, service, offering, confession, and boundaries are God’s gift of grace to set us free from the hustle. Which of these do you need to introduce/reintroduce into your life in order to make space for God to be God? Rest and reflect upon the following: “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) Another version puts it this way: “Cease striving and know that I am God.” Still another way: “Relax/Let your hands drop/Loosen your grip and know that I am God.” What area of AS YOURSELF most needs God’s attention: negative thinking, comparison trap, hustle lifestyle? • New Traffic Flow

Wow!  We are extremely proud of how you have responded to the addition of a third service and time changes. The way you've embraced the invitation to “Come sit with me!” has been incredible! As we become more like Jesus… grow… and change… we can experience some growing pains.  If you've attended services the past couple weeks, you've probably felt these growing pains in the parking lot!  Beginning this weekend, we are making a few changes to the traffic flow on Sunday mornings, to improve the efficiency and safety. We have implemented a new traffic flow pattern. Please take note of the following adjustments: One-Way Traffic: Incoming traffic will be diverted off the main drive, starting at 9:30a.  Certain parking lots will now be designated as one-way traffic. This will help minimize congestion, enhancing safety and enabling a more efficient exit. Parking Team: Our dedicated parking team members will be stationed at key points to assist you in navigating the new traffic flow and finding parking spaces efficiently. Please follow their instructions for a smoother experience for everyone. Dream Team Parking: If you’re volunteering at JaxNaz in any capacity on Sunday mornings, please park in Lot #1 at the northeast corner. Consider our Guests & Others: If you call JaxNaz "home" and wouldn’t mind parking in Lot #1, that would be greatly appreciated. This way, our friends visiting and those who physically need a preferred parking spot can utilize Lot #3. We understand that change can sometimes be challenging, but we believe that these adjustments will create a more positive experience for everyone attending our Sunday services. Our Parking Team has room to grow!  If you are interested in becoming part of our Parking Lot Dream Team, please contact ryannejohnston@jaxnaz.com or sign-up on our website https://www.jaxnazchurch.com/volunteer ! Thank you for your continued support and understanding.  See you Sunday! Christina Bristow Administrative Pastor

  • Comparison is a thief.

02.04.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand As Yourself - Comparison Questions for Reflection When do you most often find yourself in the clutches of comparison? Does comparison usually have you come out on top or come up lacking? How does comparison affect the love you are able to show others? Read John 21:15-25. How might Jesus’ words in verse 22 help you have a hand up in the fight against comparison, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Key Verse(s) When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” John 21:22 Setlist THE FATHER'S HOUSE - Cory Asbury SAME GOD - Elevation Worship HOLY FOREVER - Josh Baldwin JIREH - Elevation Worship

  • Your life is shaped by your thoughts.

01.28.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand As Yourself - Self Talk Questions for Reflection When asked which commandment is the most important, Jesus answered: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31) What did Jesus mean by “as yourself”? What is the correlation between how we love others and how we love ourselves? How are you at loving yourself, specifically in the area of self-talk? How loving are the things you say about yourself? How loving are the things you think about yourself? Positively or negatively, how does this affect your interactions with others? In order to break through Moses’ doubts, insecurities, and negative self-talk, God needed to lift his gaze. He said, “I am. I will be all you need when you need it.” What area of your life do you most need to hear and believe those words? Key Verse(s) “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31 Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 Be strong and courageous…The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. • What a huge harvest!

01.21.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Room to Grow - Engage Questions for Reflection Of the pictures given in Scripture to portray our engagement in God’s mission, which one resonates most with you and why? Salt and light (Matthew 5), aroma (2 Corinthians 2), ambassador (2 Corinthians 5), letter (2 Corinthians 3), or worker (1 Corinthians 3). Brennan Manning writes, “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians. Who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” How does this land with you? This week, listen for people who say the following: I’m not in church. Things are not going well. We are not prepared for what we’re facing. Take a moment and pray for the courage to seize these as “come sit with me” opportunities. Key Verse(s) Salt and light (Matthew 5), aroma (2 Corinthians 2), ambassador (2 Corinthians 5), letter (2 Corinthians 3), worker (1 Corinthians 3). That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” Romans 10:15 What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands. On your way! • You're a part!

01.14.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Room to Grow - Participation Questions for Reflection The word “participate” comes from two words meaning “to take” and “part”. Put them together, and what have you got: to take part, to be or become actively involved, or to share in. Based on this definition, would you describe yourself as a participant in what God does in and through JaxNaz Church? If so, in what ways, and to what degree? We talked about four opportunities to participate: partner with God in his mission (more on this next week), give generously, join a Group, serve on a team. How will you participate in what God is doing in and through JaxNaz Church as we make room to grow? What steps can you take today? Key Verse(s) Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. • Growing Things Change

01.07.24 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Room to Grow - Devotion Questions for Reflection Healthy things grow, and growing things change, and changing things change things. What healthy change has Jesus brought into your life? God’s kingdom grows and expands in the places and spaces in which it’s invited to do so. Have you given God’s kingdom room to grow in you; is the invitation an open invitation? As we make room to grow in our physical spaces at JaxNaz, we know that the work begins in us as we devote ourselves to his plans. What one thing do you need to let go? What one thing do you need to pick up? Key Verse(s) Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. • I Hope You’re Ready ‘Cause - Here We Go

12.31.23 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Here We Go! Questions for Reflection How are you approaching the new year, ready or not? Psalm 23 is King David’s way of saying, “Ready or not, HERE WE GO! But we don’t go it alone. God is with us no matter what. He is beneath us in green pastures, beside us in still waters, before us at the table, behind us pursuing us with goodness and mercy, and beyond us preparing a heavenly home. In every situation, in every season, down life’s paths, on the mountaintops, and through dark valleys. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and he is with us. So HERE WE GO!” How does this bring you comfort today? Key Verse(s) Read Psalm 23 and claim a few words as your own. • A Weary World Rejects

12.17.23 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Questions for Reflection John Ortberg, in his book Eternity Is Now in Session, points out that everyone has a kingdom—in the biblical sense. Your kingdom is that little sphere in which what you say goes. Your kingdom is the “range of your effective will”. On earth, all our little kingdoms intersect and merge to form larger kingdoms—families, corporations, nations, and economic, political, and cultural systems. We could call that whole conglomeration the “kingdom of the earth”. And that kingdom is all junked up by sin. Where is it obvious to you that “kingdoms of the earth” are junked up by sin? Does this include any of your “kingdoms”? The Magi came asking where to find the king of the Jews. Matthew tells us, “When King Herod heard this he was disturbed (greatly troubled, alarmed, frightened, agitated, stirred)…” (Matthew 2:3) Herod was convinced, this “king of the Jews” better change course or he’d change it for him. Because one thing was for sure…he wasn’t changing his. He was the king of this kingdom! Think of a time when you’ve needed to change course, and allow Jesus to be King. Are you facing one of those times now? When we pray, “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” we are conceding to Christ and his kingdom. We are saying, “Let up there, come down here.” Consider using “your kingdom come” as a morning prayer where you pray boldly against things in the world that are not right: “God, change this! Bring your kingdom into this mess.” Use “your will be done” as an evening prayer where you submit yourself to the will of God and rest in his choices for your life, trusting he has given you what is best. Key Verse This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:9-13

  • A Weary World Reacts

12.10.23 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Questions for Reflection When we feel stressed, angry, hurt, worn-out, or just plain up against it, we have a greater tendency to react impulsively. Something sends us into fight-or-flight mode. Our perceptions of the situation are altered. The emotional charge prevents us from seeing the situation for what it is, and we react. When do you tend to react disproportionately to life’s events? When Joseph heard of Mary’s pregnancy, he planned to divorce her quietly. Then we read a line that is oh-so-important, “But after he had considered this (as he considered these things, while he thought on these things, while he was contemplating this step)…” (Matthew 1:20) What makes this verse a game-changer for Joseph’s involvement in the whole birth narrative? There is a subtle but paramount difference between reacting and responding. It has been said that between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. As people of faith, in that space God is offered room to move. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. When we simply react, that space is removed. Where do you need to create space between stimulus and response in your life? Where do you need to make space for God to move? Key Verse(s) “But after he had considered this…” Matthew 1:20 “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.” Matthew 1:24-25

  • A Weary World Retreats

12.03.23 - Lead Pastor Bryce Gernand Questions for Reflection: World-weary is defined as “feeling or indicating feelings of weariness, boredom, or cynicism as a result of long experience of life (often because of having too much experience of a particular way of life).” Is there a particular way of life that has left you world-weary? Is there a place or time you travel back to when you’re weary; one that seems lighter/easier/simpler? If so, what is it? We’re not quite ourselves when we’re weary. We sometimes react in ways we’re not proud of. An angel delivered some weary-worthy news to Mary. She may have been tempted to escape, retreat, run away from it all, but she didn’t. Instead, she went forward to meet God in his plan and calling. How can you move forward today? Key Verse(s) Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. Luke 1:38 Come to me (don’t run away), all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (what a wonderful invitation). Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (you don’t have to carry this alone, let me bear the unbearable). Matthew 11:28-30
